The app breaks down every session with rich insights on speed, stride, distance, and heart rate zones, while factoring in real-world variables like terrain and rider weight. Track progress over time, compare horses at a glance, and generate custom reports in seconds. It’s powerful, precise, and built to keep your whole team in sync.

Design Challenge
Designing the S-PRO app came with some unique challenges. We needed to turn complex data, such as heart rate, stride patterns, and GPS routes, into clear visuals that users could understand at a glance.
The app had to work smoothly outdoors and during active training, so the interface had to be quick, reliable, and easy to use on the go. We also had to design for different users, like riders, trainers, and vets, each with their own goals.
One of the biggest challenges was showing multiple types of data together without overwhelming the screen. Making sure the app synced well with the sensor hardware was another key focus. In the end, it was all about creating a simple, powerful tool that made sense of advanced performance data for every type of user.

Research & Prototyping
Research & Collaboration
From the start, we worked closely with the Equimetrics team to understand the needs of both their end users and their existing technology. Because S‑PRO needed to function alongside their clinical-focused app, V‑PRO, we made sure the two complemented each other while serving different goals, one focused on performance, the other on health. It was important that the experience felt consistent across both apps without being repetitive. We gathered input from trainers, riders, and vets to identify the core features they relied on most; speed and stride analysis, recovery trends, and easy-to-read reports.
Prototyping & Iteration
We went through multiple rounds of prototyping to get the balance of function and simplicity just right. We started with low-fidelity wireframes to quickly map out the structure and flow of key screens like session breakdown, trend tracking, and report generation.
Once we aligned on the layout, we developed two distinct mid-fidelity prototypes; one with a light interface, and one with a darker, more data-rich aesthetic. Presenting both options helped the client clearly visualise different directions, and they ultimately chose the dark version for its stronger contrast and professional feel, especially in outdoor and high-glare environments.
Refining the Vision
Through collaborative prototyping and testing, the finalised direction balanced functionality with field usability, meeting both user needs and client expectations. It complemented the clinical V‑PRO app while standing apart visually, ensuring a clear distinction between the two systems.

Final Outcome
The final S‑PRO design delivered a sleek, intuitive interface that made complex performance data accessible and actionable. The chosen darker theme improved visibility in outdoor settings, while the clean layout helped users quickly interpret key metrics like speed, stride, and heart rate zones. Seamless integration with the physical sensor and the existing V‑PRO app created a cohesive experience across Equimetrics’ product range. Customisable reports and trend tracking features empowered users to monitor progress and share insights effortlessly.
